So the question becomes, how do you listen to Hi-Fi tracks in Tidal when a fast internet connection isn't available? Offline music is the answer.
Tides give you the ability to listen to music without using even one byte of your data. When in an area with stable internet, you can download albums or playlists to your device's local storage. After downloading, these songs are always available to you - even if you enter an area with bad cellular data or without Wi-Fi.

Step 1 Download the Album or Play Your Favorite List

To get started, open Tidal for Android or iPhone, then tap the Search tab at the bottom of the screen to find your favorite album. After you open the album overview page, there is a switch for "Download" near the top. When you enable this toggle, you will get a pop-up informing you that the album has started downloading.

If you want to use a playlist that was created before, select My Collection at the bottom right of the screen. Tap "Playlist" here and select the playlist you want to download. Activate the "Download" switch, and you will receive a message telling you that Tidal has started downloading the playlist.

Step 2 Authorize Your Device for Offline Use

Next, select My Collection at the bottom of the screen, then in the upper right corner, there is an icon in the form of a gear - select this icon.

For your security, you must authorize your current device to play downloaded music. To activate your device at this time, select the "Authorize" option here. You will be greeted with a pop-up asking for the name of this device. By default, the name is your device model, but you can name it whatever you choose. Select "OK" after you choose a name to authorize your device.

Step 3 Switch to Offline Mode (Optional)

Now that you have downloaded music and authorized the mobile to play it, you may want to activate Offline Tidal Mode to prevent applications from using cellular data. To do that, tap the gear icon from the top of the My Collection screen, then activate the "Offline" option.

Once activated, you will no longer have access to any music that has not been downloaded to your device, but you can be sure that you are not using any data. Tidal will bring up the "Download" menu with a list of all albums or playlists that you have downloaded. Select the album or playlist that you want to listen to and operate as usual. Every track found here can now be played without using the internet.

Step 4 Adjust Settings (Optional)

There are several other offline playback options in Tidal that are noteworthy. First, you can make Tidal refuse to download albums and playlists if your device is not connected to Wi-Fi. This will prevent you from accidentally downloading music when you use cellular data, which can burn through your monthly internet allotment.

To try that feature, select My Collection, then tap the gear icon and deactivate Offline mode. Once disabled, return to the application's main settings menu (by selecting My Collection and then the gear icon) and make sure "Download via Cellular" is turned off. From now on, it will not only be downloaded when your device is connected to Wi-Fi.

Another customizable setting is the ability to choose where your music is stored locally. If your device supports it, open the application's main settings menu and tap "Download Destination." From there, you will be presented with an Internal storage or SD card option. Select which one you want the music you download to be saved.

Finally, because of Tidal's multi-platform support, you can have different offline content depending on what device you are using. If you prefer offline music found on other devices available on your current device, select the "Restore Offline Content" option in the application's main settings, which will delete your current offline music and download music on other devices.

If you want to manage several of your devices, select the "Official Device" option to see a list of all devices that are allowed for offline music. If you want to cancel the authorization of any device, select the device and select "Deauthorize."
