How to take screenshots on iPhone X

Want to take a screenshot of the iPhone X? Of course you can take a screenshot of the iPhone X, but you must have noticed now that the iPhone X does not have a Home button, and thus the familiar screenshot method that presses the Home Button and Power Button no longer functions to capture the iPhone X screen.

Instead, iPhone X uses a combination of new and different buttons to take screenshots. It's as simple as you normally use to capture screenshots of iOS devices, but because it's completely new, it takes a little time to get used to before the new screenshot method becomes a habit for iPhone X owners.

You might want to practice it several times to master it.

How to screenshot iPhone X

Press the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously at the same time
You must press the Volume Up button and the Power button simultaneously to take a screenshot of the iPhone X. If the screenshot is successful, you will hear the familiar shutter camera sound, then see a small thumbnail of the screenshot preview appearing in the lower left corner of the screen.

The Power button is on the right side of the iPhone X, and the Volume Up button is the top button on the left side of the iPhone X (this is the button, not the small mute button).

Some people refer to the Power button as the Side button or the Lock button, whatever you want to call the button functions the same and this is the step needed to take a screenshot on the iPhone X.

Short warning: do not HOLD the Power button and the Volume Up button too long, because it will quickly try to trigger the Shutdown screen and the Emergency SOS feature. When held for too long, Emergency SOS will go further and then activate and try to call the local authorities and emergency services, which is probably not what you want to do if you just try to take a screenshot. So beware that way. Just a short moment quickly press Power and Volume Up will snap a screenshot without doing anything else.

Note that while still using the dual press procedure button, this is different from screenshotting the iPad or iPhone screenshotting model before the iPhone X. It should also be noted that the screenshot process with iOS 11, iOS 10, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus is very little (at least in perception that requires small behavior adjustments for some users) but remains the same as the Home button and the Power button presses, while iPhone X is really a new behavior with a new button.

And if you are wondering, the screenshot of the iPhone X is a large resolution of 1125 x 2436 pixels, producing large and tall images.

Enjoy taking your screen shots with the iPhone X, and you can see more screenshot tips here if you are interested in this topic.
